CAT Application Form 2017: Online registration is the first and extremely important stage for any entrane exam. If you fail to do online registration properly, your application will be cancelled by the concerned authority during screening process. So, all candidates are required to be quite attentive while filling up the application form for any entrance exam.

In case you are going to apply for CAT 2017, then here is the complete process for CAT 2016 online registration:

  • Visit official website of CAT i.e. https://iimcat.ac.in/
  • Now find the link for CAT application form 2017 and hit that.
  • Now you will be asked to register yourself by entering few relevant details.
  • After providing the details, one registration id and password will be generated. Candidates are required to use that registration id and password in order to fill up the application form.
  • Now upload scanned form of your signature, photograph and necessary documents.
  • Finally remit the application fee.

Documents must be ready before starting the registration process for CAT:

  • Necessary past educational documents such as class X, XII and Graduation Degree certificate etc.
  • A genuine E-mail Id and Phone Number
  • Work Experience related Documents
  • Scanned form of your recent photograph and signature
  • Name of preferred exam centers
  • Names of IIM program to which candidates have desire to apply.

Important Points:

  • The CAT 2017 registration process will start in the month of August 2016 (tentative).
  • Registration process will be held through online mode only on its official website i.e. www.iimcat.ac.in
  • All candidates need to fill up the application very appropriately. No mistake should be done by the candidates while filling up the application form.
  • Candidates also need to select three exam centres as per their preference.

CAT 2016 Updates:

CAT 2016 aspirants can check below all the updates related to CAT:
  • For CAT 2016, a total of 2,32,434 candidates have registered for the test till the extended date September 27, 2016. Out of the total number of registrations, which is the highest in past 7 years, 67% are male and 33% are female. The CAT applications number has increased from last year by 6%. The number of PWD candidates, which is 938, has also increased from last year. This year, CAT authority is allowing the candidates to modify their application details such as percentage, programme selected and work experience.
  • CAT Application from fee was increased to Rs. 1700 for General & NC-OBC and and Rs. 850 for SC, ST, DA and PWD candidates.
  • As per the CAT 2016 official notification candidates were allowed to modify/update their details in the form after submitting the same from October 1 to 5, 2016.
  • This year 4 new test cities have been added to the existing list. The new cities are as follows:
    1. Udaipur in Rajasthan
    2. Khanna in Punjab
    3. Phagwara in Punjab
  • Two cities have been removed from the list, which are:
    1. Bishnupur in West Bengal
    2. Purnea in Bihar

CAT 2016 Eligibility Criteria

According to the IIMs, CAT 2016 takers need to be graduates in any discipline from a recognized institute or university with minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA. For the reserved category candidates, the cutoff percentage is 45%. Final year graduation or Bachelor’s Degree students were also be eligible to apply for CAT 2016. There is no age limit for appearing in CAT.

The IIMs and the government B-schools follow the reservation criteria of seats as per the Government of India regulations. The following table brings to you the category wise reservation structure of seats.
